Make your computers DVD player region free
First I shall talk a bit about DVD history. If you find this boring scroll down to the solution to make your computers DVD Player region free. A while ago a new kind of medium was invented a medium whose prime purpose initially was to carry videos in superior quality to VHS Videotapes. They called it the Digital Video Disc Or DVD since people find Acronyms extremely pleasant. This isn't the latest peace of news in fact it has bean found that the DVD is also great for storing a bunch of other Digital information not just Video this meant that the name had to be changed DVD is now the acronym that stands for Digital Versatile Disc. But the point that I eventually would like to make is not what the V stands for in DVD but the fact that DVDs like CDs Scratch easily and one has to be a moron to come up with such a stupid and fragile storage system. One can not help but wonder which university one has to go to in order to realize that a brain without the skull to protect it will not remain undamaged for very long. The same goes for DVDs and CDs. The guy who invented the Diskette or Floppy disc knew what I am talking about. CDs and DVDs should have bean packaged the same way Diskettes were this way they would never get scratched. This by the way is also not the point of this article it is just something that I feel strongly about and it is also something that demonstrates the stupidity of some of the people we have to share this earth with.

I am happy to report that on the up side The DVD was built and invented to a international standard so that all systems would be compatible. The DVD is like a a plug and jack system where you can fit your plugs in to any system without the need for adapters and transformers. This is great, they finally got something right and that is exactly why the film industry had to go out of their way to put other hindrances and obstacles in our way. They started to encrypt the DVDs with region locks and they intentionally started building DVD players with region restrictions. What this means is that you can now only watch certain DVDs with certain players. If you own a computer you might be slightly luckier and you get to change your region code five times and then you are stuck in your last selected region forever.

The Solution

Call it what you will. Region free, all region, multi region or international dvd player. Now I would like to inform you of two free software programs that will allow you to watch DVDs with any region code as often as as you like on your Computers DVD player. They are the DVD43 and the DVD Region Killer. Use the links on the bottom of the page to download one or Both Programs. You can install them both on your computer. When you install both of them only turn one of them on at a time. If one does not work for a particular DVD “this might happen occasionally” the other one probably will work. If you are watching a DVD that is the same region as the setting of your player you might need to turn them both off.

To turn DVD region killer on and off right-click the little Globe (DVD region killer) in the task bar and tick or untick Enable DVD region killer.

Turn the DVD43 on by double-clicking on the Green DVD43 smiley on your desktop and turn the DVD43 off by right-clicking on the DVD43 smiley on the task bar and selecting Exit.
